It is not me who decided ... Osama was a Terrorist long before 911 ... you do not seem to know of his involvement ... you should read up on his life of Terrorism.

Yeah, it's all about one guy who was leader of the bad men. And none of the bad men could think for themselves, and now he's gone, they won't know what to do - and we'll all be happy and safe.
    Sleep well!

Nice. Another awesome media streaming feature that will be choked by AT&T.

There will probably will be a push to utilize WIFI. Unless, of course, you're one of the "chosen" to have their unlimited data plans grandfathered and won't be impacted. ;)

Also, you'll be able to multi-task on the ATT network...

Funny thing is that I don't see anyone in this forum going into hysteria about this other than the people saying that "this is a load of FUD." Why is it such a shock that MacOSX can be vulnerable? It isn't a shock that Mac OS X is vulnerable. What is shocking is that it is front page news to people.

Why is this even note worthy? Why is this even NEWS WORTHY?

Why cover what are (to most Mac users) non-issues? More importantly, why aid the PC press in making cracking a Mac a limelight subject?

Misery may love company, but do we really need to add to the frenzied coverage that this subject currently has?

And oddly (or maybe not), the people most likely to fall for the hype on all this are former PC users who (wrongly) believe that any level of malicious software is equivalent to what ever the current level is for Windows (where malicious software is actually a profession).

You aren't a former (current) PC user, are you longofest? It would explain a lot.

No, it hasn't been exploited to any large extent, but vulnerabilities open up the door to exploits, and the only thing that is keeping us away from having exploits happen is our market share. You may not want to hear that, but as long as we are below 10% of the market, people simply aren't going to target our vulnerabilities, but are going to target MS's vulnerabilities.

Here's a radical suggestion, very unlikely to be implemented, but maybe interesting.

The iPod has a screen on the front which displays the controls, but the touch/presence/motion sensitive sensor is on the back. Since the controls are on the back, your view of the screen isn't obscured by your finger tapping on it.

But how do you see exactly where your fingers are? Simple - the "None Touch" sensor detects where your fingers are, and superimposes a representation of their position on the screen - it's almost like a transparent iPod, where your fingers behind the iPod are shown on the screen in front.

    Benefits

    - your fingers aren't obscuring your view of the screen
    - you're not smudging or scratching the screen by tapping on it.

    Disadvantages

For all those people who signed up for the beta.. I'm pretty sure this is a PRIVATE beta. VMware has said they'll do a public beta by the end of the year, and I'm pretty sure that'll be PUBLIC.

Basically, I'm sure that they're just ramping up to get some features in for the public beta, but wanted to test functionality and what not with this private beta. They've still got 2 months or so to hold up to that statement ("by the end of the year")

Seriously, why not an Imac with touch-screen right now? Will we need to wait for the next iMac update to see this technology implemented?

Apple is surely working on it:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/7961480/Apple-files-iMac-touch-patent.html

And, besides that, OS X Lion will be 100% focused on touch technology... and were not talking about an Ipad OS...

Are you planning on nursing your iMac in your lap?

Two companies I really don't care for.

Apple makes some sweet hardware (hence I visit this site) but they seriously lack in the software programming and ethical department.

Samsung makes some crappy TVs (I really don't know why they have such a good reputation for TVs, I've got two of them and they look like crap in comparison to my $400 Emerson), not to mention crappy cell phones that are guaranteed to break in a year. (I've gone through three, 1st the slider started to stick, 2nd one the speaker on it broke, and the 3rd one it would double entry the 6 key when I tried to text).

Good for samsung though for trying to strike back for that ridiculous suit Apple did about the Galaxy.

I'm still wondering what is good about this. I see it as a bad thing. More viruses, more crap shareware, lesser quality products.

Spoken like someone who doesn't have a clue about computers. Congratulations.

I work for GE and we are all Dell (unfortunately). Dell laptops, desktops, servers. Everybody gets Dell and nothing else. Can you imagine a company wide policy (300k workers). While the stuff breaks pretty quickly (my latitude laptop had cracks on it within 2 months of use), I was told that the enterprise service plans that Dell offers are unbeatable. The will swap stuff overnight and make sure you have something to work with. If Apple were to have a good service plan for enterprise, I think they will get more takers. Until then, Apple will be more popular with consumers and not enterprise.

Don't confuse Dell consumer service plans with enterprise. Enterprise is their bread and butter.

Dell has several levels of enterprise service. If they are looking at a company who is willing to drop their sorry butt they will upgrade their support contract to a higher level for free. I've seen this first hand.

An eleven-year-old boy in Northern California accidentally downloaded (http://www.necn.com/06/05/10/Boy-accidentally-downloads-99900-Smart-p/landing.html?blockID=247714) the $999.99 BarMax bar exam preparation application (iTunes link (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/barmax-ca/id345722008?mt=8)) using an iPod touch. He didn't mean to make the purchase and was surprised when it started to download the 1GB app. His mother was equally shocked, especially after she learned the price and that her son had not been prompted for an iTunes password.

They paused the download and went to an Apple store but were told that the store couldn't help. However, the boy's mother then emailed Apple and received a return phone call telling her that they would receive a full refund.

Regardless if you believe that you can install Vista Home under VMWare or Parallels, the real legal problem is MS has put VMWare and Parallels under legal notice that they may not write their software to allow the operation of Vista Home under their products, else they will be sued for contributory infringement.

So, technical theory aside, if MS has the legal right to restrict such behavior, there will be no way VMWare or Parallels will produce such software, otherwise MS will sue them out of existence.

So far, Leopard is something I'm not willing to pay for.

I expected just a little bit of a UI change, it just looks like a little updated version of Tiger.

I really wonder what these top secret features are because the current features aren't impressing me enough to open my wallet.

The iPhone 4 will be a year and a few months old by September. I guess Apple can afford to wait simply because the iPhone brand has a good deal of market power, but it's still strange because their competition will be head over heels ahead of them. I hope iOS 5 is out before fall.
